Make Your Next Potty Break an Adventure!

Stop at a rest stop on Illinois' Route 66 and you may find a map to roadway treasures. Three new, over-sized posters feature existing and by-gone icons of the Mother Road. There's something different to these posters, though. They highlight the farming aspects of Route 66.

"Thinking about agriculture while on a road trip may seem like a novelty now," said Illinois Farm Bureau's Steve Gannaway, "but at the height of the Route 66's fame, it was just part of everyday life. Many travelers grew up on farms and just about everyone understood that road projects, like Route 66, were started by farmers and the U.S. Department of Agriculture."

Gannaway continues, "Today, most people driving the interstate are three generations removed from the farm, and no one remembers how farmers used to pool their dollars to build the road themselves. These posters are a nod to those days gone by."

You can see the online version or download your own poster by clicking on one of the icons below. The posters are a fun project by Illinois Farm Bureau's Education Action Team.
